After a hectic few months, my energy shifted quite significantly last week. I thought I’d jump on here and share some things that are lighting up my world and helping me shine right now.
HELPING ME SHINE – Sniff Soy Candles
Smell. It’s such a wonderful sense. A whiff of something delightful can brighten up my day in an instant. When learning about using our intuition, we’re taught about using our inner seeing, hearing, feeling and knowing. Yet I find that smell can be just as influential. The smell of roses could mean one of your guides is close, you may smell lavender and be taken back to another lifetime or a bad smell could mean a warning.
I like to work and develop all of my senses (they’re there to help us after all). I love how the smell and sight of candles comfort and warm me, it’s such a special feeling. However, most candles out there are too pungent for my sensitive nose. Yes I want to develop my sense of smell but I don’t want to get a headache in the process!
This is why I love ‘Sniff’ Soy Candles (cool name eh?). They have a gentle aroma, combine stunning combinations of smells, are non toxic and are environmentally friendly. Those of you who follow me on Facebook may know my delight of discovering they have special edition Christmas candles and free delivery this month.
I found it difficult to choose one so I bought several and have been burning them non-stop since. The Christmas Tree candle is so amazing, I couldn’t wait until Christmas to burn it – the smell takes me to a lush forrest and reminds me of my home in Ireland where greenery is abundant.
These candles warm my heart and give me a great sense of peace. They’re worth checking out.
HELPING ME SHINE – Debunking Ovulation
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Nat Kringoudis Debunking Ovulation workshop. It blew my mind! Talking about things that tend to be whispered amongst women (ovulation, alternatives to contraception as well as discussing influences that affect our fertility/menstrual cycle), it was an eye opener to say the least.
I decided to come off the Pill a while back (after being on it for nearly 15 years for my skin) and it has taken me over a year to get my body back on track. It was a personal decision based on the fact that I’d read the Pill can cause depression. Best decision ever to come off it! It was harming my gut, robbing my body of nutrients and it was steeling my joy. It’s been one hell of a journey getting my body back on track after all the damage that has been done from taking the Pill – herbal medicine, acupuncture, dietary changes, change in lifestyle have all helped me.
I’ve thought about writing about my journey coming off the Pill but it’s never really transpired to me putting pen to paper. Nat can tell you everything you need to know about the Pill here – if you are on the Pill or have come off it, please please please take a moment to read it. As women, it’s important that we know about this stuff. From my experience, doctors telling me that’s it’s ok to be on the Pill for long periods of time has proved incorrect.
I love Nat’s work. Her Fertilise Yourself ebook is AMAZING! Lots of tips and yummy recipes to support your body.
And if you’re intrigued by what I learnt at the workshop and want to learn more about fertility, check this out.
HELPING ME SHINE – My new home and neighbourhood
After a couple of stressful months searching for a home and then moving, I’m finally settled in my new place in Bondi. Yay! I think I’m probably the only person in Sydney who enjoyed last weekend’s rain – it meant that I could stay indoors and connect with my new home. I love being inside when it’s pouring outside, tucked up in a blanket with a good book.
However, it didn’t really feel like I was in Bondi, I hadn’t connected to the place. So Saturday was devoted to exploring – heading to the Farmer’s markets bright and early with my flatmate to stock up on fresh produce, strolling the streets looking in shop windows and walking along the beach in the evening, soaking up the atmosphere, summer vibe and sunshine. Bondi has been a foreign place to me, it’s got a different energy to the rest of Sydney. As I spend more time here, I can really see it supporting me and helping me shine.
